In 2020, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare (CAVHS) focused its recycling efforts on used oil and its products, used batteries, cardboard, lead, brass casings, and electronics. Overall, the agency saved over $785,000 during the 2020 fiscal year due to sustainable telework practices. Facility waste generation fell 47 percent, water use fell 15 percent, and electricity use fell 3 percent. Process changes to an online format saved over four million sheets of paper and reduced paper consumption by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year.
